The mission of Student Technology Services is to make the use of technology easier and to disseminate technology information to the student population.
Student Technology Services (STS) is a unit in IT@JHU whose role is to make the use of technology easier and to disseminate information about the technologies offered to JHU students. One way we do this is by employing students to create technology that will be used by JHU students to help enhance their educational experience.
Our students are mostly undergraduates, from almost every discipline or major, who either have specific skills or want to learn specific skills that will help us complete projects that further our goals. Students are expected to learn new technology and share what they learn. Most often they work in teams as web developers and web designers, writers and graphic designers, videographers and editors, etc. and we are able to produce at least one new application each year.
Dear JHU students:
Last winter, we were asked to work with the Blackboard Mobile team to develop a mobile app for JHU students. Our student teams worked diligently during the spring semester, and at the end of the semester, JHU Mobile went live. My name is Garvi and I am a team lead for graphic design. My team is responsible for all of the graphics on the JHU Mobile app and on all of the ads for JHU Mobile that you see throughout campus.
